Tire mounting and balancing has changed drastically over the last 10 years. Today, cars are coming with more luxurious wheels and lower profile tires verses 5, even 10 years ago where tires had some more rubber to eliminate many of the road vibrations. Today, a standard wheel balance is no longer considered a "proper wheel balance" as many times, there is still a road force vibration from the tire and even the wheel that can only be found while pressure is put to the wheel and tire such as when driving. The Hunter Road Force Balancer not only performs the standard wheel balancing, it also performs what is called Road Force Balance which applies pressure to the tire as if it were on the car and on the road and measures the stiffness between the tire and wheel. If it were out of specifications, it will then lead the certified technician to sit the tire in a particular spot with the wheel to eliminate the vibrations and then re-check.
