The light represents the Tire Pressure Monitoring System, or TPMS, it gauges the pressure of your tires and repeatedly sends a signal to the vehicle computer. The light and/or message will illuminate that one or more tires have lost air pressure and will need to be checked and adjusted. What happens if the light stays on and the driver doesn’t have the pressures checked? The tire will wear out unevenly and will damage both the shoulder treads of the tire but also the sidewall. It is important to immediately check the tire pressures and if one is drastically lower than the rest, it is recommended to put the spare tire on if available or call for a tow truck and have the tire repaired.
